T.Eaton Building (Heritage Court)

Although today most people know it as Heritage Court. Home to various call centers, government offices, and even a Credit Union. It started out as one of the largest retailers in Moncton.

Construction Started in 1919. Concrete columns were put up on each of the six floors and reinforced with twisted steel bars. The columns were designed and placed so as to carry the stress and load of each floor. The building was constructed of reinforced concrete and considered ‘entirely fireproof.

The building and opened in 1920 and it took 1,000 train car loads to stock the new store.

Eventually the retail arm was moved to the newly built Highfield Square in 1969 and in the 70s the catalogue division closed.
