Sunny Brae Arena

Designed and built by R. C. Donald, The arena opened in January 1922.

Originally it has a concrete roof inspired by the Roman Coliseums  late in the of project, cracked in the roof caused and inspector to force Mr. Donald  to replace  it with a wooden and steel beam roof.

When not used for sports, it was also used for concerts and conventions capable of seating 2000 people.

It was destroyed in a fire on February 26, 1928, the fire took the life of a young girl, some people believe that if the building inspector did not force them to use a wood roof, the fire never would have happened.

Today most of the concrete structure still remains and is often mistaken to have been an old railroad structure such as a round house.
