A different downtown

Untitled-1

Before the call centers and retail shopping boom, one stapleĀ  in the heart of downtown Moncton was the railroad.

In this photo, CN has a dominant presence in Moncton. With the rail yard on the lower right, office buildings on the lower left, and the spur lineĀ  running parallel to Main Street behind the assumption building serving the few remaining downtown business that need rail access.

It’s interesting to see how every few decades Moncton continues to re-invent itself, while in some ways, still staying the same place.
